Terry Pratchett knighted in Queen's new year... →
Pratchett, 60, best known for his satirical Discworld fantasy series, becomes a knight, one of the queen’s most important honours, and will now be addressed as a ‘Sir’.
“There are times when phrases such as ‘totally astonished’ just don’t do the job,” he said. “I am of course delighted and honoured and needless to say, flabbergasted.”

Reflections
So sitting in my motel room getting ready for the trip home, I am reflecting on what a neat week this has been. My first Christmas with snow. Okay, my first time really spending any significant time in snow. Sledding down a giant pile of dirt, covered in a couple of feet of snow, on a plastic bag. You know, I can’t really bring myself to think of this as a big deal. At least while it is an active, 24/7 war zone. Even if you’re eating a meal, you’re at risk. There’s a lot of waste in government that I am against, but I’d worry about a lot more before I’d worry about this.
It is going to be cold
…and probably a rough trip, much different than the casual drive we had last time.
This is the National Weather Service forecast for most of drive in UT on Saturday.
Saturday: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy and cold, with a high near 8. West wind between 6 and 10 mph. Saturday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow. Partly cloudy, with a low around -4.
Even I am not this obsessed
Mom: Are you bringing your computer with you on the trip?
Me: I am not sure. I am really trying to get away and I'll work if I bring my computer.
Mom: Oh.
Me: Why?
Mom: I want to make sure I can check my fantasy hockey.

President George W. Bush said his belief that God created the world is not incompatible with scientific proof of evolution.
In an interview with ABC’s “Nightline” on Monday, the president also said he probably is not a literalist when reading the Bible although an individual can learn a great deal from it, including the New Testament teaching that God sent his only son.
